Lessons from Helen Paul’s visit part 4

I am an advocate of personal development, I jump at any opportunity to address any topic related to it. I was marveled when Helen Paul said she has bagged two masters degrees and pursuing a PhD. Are you surprised?

Knowledge has no end, the more you know the more you realize what you need to know. Albert Einstein puts it this way, “the mind that opens to a new idea is never comes back to its original size” that is, it expands and becomes more valuable. The truth is, knowledge adds value to whoever has it. The more you know, the more relevant you become.

I am so impressed and motivated by Helen’s quest for knowledge and this should be a challenge to us all. We should never stop increasing our knowledge base, not just in our field. We should also try to know about other fields or profession. This is one lesson I have learnt from footballers, they train regularly and apart from that, they take sometime out to play other sports e.g. table soccer, table tennis, swimming to mention a few.

Helen Paul, I salute your guts!

My dear reader, as I draw a close on this journey, I urge you to please take your personal development serious. Don’t think you know it all, no one knows it all and what lies ahead of you is greater than what you currently know except you are comfortable with being a mediocre. We can all know more than we presently do and this in turn increases our value and worth.

I hope you’ve gained a few things from this series? Thanks for reading. I deeply appreciate your time.

This is not all to the lessons to be learnt from Helen Paul’s life but I need to stop here (I am sorry I have to). I need to attend to other pressing issues. However, if you are interested in getting the DVD you can reach me via:

Lessons from Helen Paul’s visit part 3

Regardless of her social profile, Helen Paul still maintained a low profile and remained herself within the four walls of the class while in Unilag. She was never carried away by her “class”. A gift does not stand alone, it has to reside within a person and the carrier of such gift has to show that he has the capacity and maturity to make the best out of that gift.

“We might be classmates but we are not Grace-mate”.        Helen Paul

It is unbelievable how carelessness has cost a lot of people the opportunity to dine with kings. That someone is gifted should not be an excuse for him or her to misbehave, disregard or disrespect other people. J.C Maxwell says, “talent is not enough”. It is not all about the talent, your character as the carrier of the talent matters a lot.

Helen’s positive attitude worked for her greatly on her journey to stardom, her attitude towards lecturers, people around her, classmates and even those who hurt her. A healthy attitude is a basic requirement for anyone who intends to achieve something worthwhile with his or her gift. A good attitude is vital because it will help you pave through challenges and come out as a better person.

Challenges are part of life and are meant to make us better, not bitter. You have to keep moving on regardless of the rejection, negative experiences, financial challenges etc.

eni a ba f’eyin ti, egun loje (Yoruba proverb)

a person one is supposed to lean on or a helper has become a thorn.

I can’t imagine what it feels like when a supposed source of inspiration becomes a source of discouragement. At some point someone asked her questions like- who gave you the name, Helen Paul? Who did your naming ceremony? Na wa o!!

I am yet to see a person who became successful without having to face, fight and conquer their Goliaths. As I listened to Helen Paul’s story closely, I saw a lady who understands the role having a positive attitude and the role it plays on the journey to greatness.

Don’t quit because you have been rejected or victimized. Don’t stop because of little success, you’ve got a lot of grounds to cover.

Helen’s story is an inspiration, I hope you gain as much as possible and draw inspiration from her success nuggets.

Thanks for reading. Please share with others.

Lessons from Helen Paul’s visit part 2

As I listened to Helen Paul’s testimony of how she made it to where she is today, I felt for the girl she was and for me (smiles… I’ll share mine soon). At the same time, I was praying in my mind that many of the audience would grasp the content of her talk and not be swept away by her comedy. I followed her closely with my heart and jotted a few things. I shared one on my previous post where I talked about the role the God factor played in her journey to stardom. Click the following to read more http://dkingzpen.blogspot.com/2013/12/lessons-from-helen-pauls-visit-part-1.html.

What you need to succeed in life is not far from you in fact, it is within you. For Helen Paul, her voice (among other things) was the key that opened the door to stardom.

Have you discovered your own “voice”? What are you doing with it?

Even if you are multi-talented just like Helen, you have to start from somewhere and with something. Although many got to know her as a comedian but that isn’t where she started from. That baby-like voice is where it all started from. The deposit of God in her that has grown and now yielding dividends and fertilized other gifts in her.

Let’s Hear your VOICE!

Uncle, please tell us a story...
The world wants to listen to your story
People are eager to draw inspiration from your testimony
My fingers are craving to run your story on the keyboard
I’m hungry to post your testimony for the world to read.
My blog is willing to share the bestseller story
Paparazzi’s   can’t wait to rain the flashes of cameras on you.
The magazines can’t wait to make you the cover page.
What are you doing, you have waited enough -it’s time to do something…

To be continued… thanks for reading. Please share with others.

Lessons from Helen Paul’s visit part 1

When a man runs alone, it is called race but when God is involved, it is called Grace.

Never underestimate the importance of the hand of God in whatever you do. Anyone who disregards the place of God in his or her area of gifting does so at his/her peril.  It is just like a man who bought an electronic gadget that he has never used before and tries using it without consulting the users’ manual neither did he ask questions from those who have used such gadget before.

An athlete who runs in an international athletics competition without obeying the rules of the IAAF, the governing body of athletics only runs for fun. There are rules to be obeyed, disobeying these rules and regulations amounts to futility- a waste of time, resources and energy. Your gift is not meant to be wasted. It is supposed to count for you and make you relevant to your generation and the world at large.

The recently concluded FIFA U-17 world cup won by Nigeria is a typical example of the point I’m making here. The player who emerged as the highest goal scorer at the event scored seven goals while a Nigerian who played just one match had four goals to his credit… (no thanks to injury he got in the first match) what if he wasn’t injured, what if he had played more matches? (what if he had prayed more?). If it were by talent- judging by his first match, he should have emerged as the top scorer of the competition.

Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain…Psalms 127:1.

The labor (gift) of a man will take him nowhere except the Lord is “involved”. To make your gift count and take you before kings, leaders and captains of industries you have to acknowledge the Creator -the owner of all gifts asking Him to take His place.

For a man’s Gift to bring him before great men, he has to be connected to the Creator (GOD). A gift will remain Relevant as long as it’s connected to GOD.

Just like a bulb cannot come on without been connected to a power source so will a man’s gift take him nowhere except he is connected to the One who gave him the gift.  Following her story closely, I could see the hand of God in Helen Paul’s life and gift. I implore you my dear friend, connect to the Source and the sky will be your starting point. See you at the TOP!
